Two Acres Brought Back to Life
Evergreen's grounds had been lightly kept for a decade: waist-high brambles along the boundaries, a paddock gone to thistle, and an orchard of twelve ancient apples smothered by ivy. The new owners wanted the estate feel back — without a full-time gardener.
Our answer was low-intervention design: meadow margins mown twice a year, a mown orchard walk, restored fencing and hardy native planting that largely looks after itself.
The Challenge
Scale changes everything — two acres can't be hand-weeded. We had to design for ride-on mowing, suppress weeds with density rather than labour, and clear years of growth without disturbing nesting birds or veteran trees.
Our Approach
Winter clearance first, then structure: 300 metres of estate fencing, a bark orchard walk, and meadow seed over prepared ground. An Enterprise care plan now keeps it all in check with monthly visits and two big seasonal pushes.
